The (absent-most-of-the-time) Silver Lining

{image from weheartit}

feeling quite empty inside now. But don't worry I have a few ideas as to why that is. Suddenly, I've been having the need to shop online but all the nice stuff that I like are from webshops overseas, mostly Australia and US and UK. ahah... such is life. It really loves to kick you in the balls (pardon my manners) whenever it feels like it. If I were a boy, I'd probably be dead or extremely injured right now. Yup. I plan to do some shopping. Yes, the wallet falls victim to whatever this is.

New York (and Paris) I love you

So, I've heard lotsa stories about New York not being what one would expect it to be, but I'm not discouraged. I still want to see it for myself. And this cool website Brooklyn Vegan, helps a little. It's actually a site covering all concerts and gigs happening in New York (of bands I love to hear, no less) so it's really cool. And I know for sure there are a lot of things to do besides shopping..who shops in New York anyway..not me, that's for sure. Anyways I just came across this cool photo of Devendra Banhart and I couldn't resist but to share it here.

{wouldn't have imagined him like this, but OK}

On a lighter note, I'm working on getting a part-time job. Hopefully that works out. I need some extra moolah but then again, who doesn't right?

time for change (again)

hey there internet-surfing people, I've changed my blog template thingie so hopefully it still appeals as it did before (self-flattery much eh)

Anyway, once again, I've stumbled upon some cool blogs and decided to share here because they were too interesting for me to keep all to myself. Really, I'm not being sweet or anything but it was really too much of nice stuff so I wanted to mention about them here.

First up, it's Goodnight Little Spoon. This cool girl, Bianca Jagoe makes mean postcards and envelopes. When I say mean, I mean super awesome-looking paper put together. And then she sends them to friends and people she meet through her blog. To make it just a little bit more better, she sends cool stuff in the envelopes! It is just too good. I wish to explore that side of me soon. I can't even think about doing any of that now. Only because I know I would spend days working on creating a pretty postcard, time of which I don't have right now. But definitely something I look forward to when I'm on holiday :)

just one of many of Bianca's works

Next, this blog, Meet Me At Mike's has inspired the granny in me to learn how to knit. Yes, you read right. I want to learn how to knit. Pip, the woman behind this inspiring blog, shares many tutorials on how to knit and crochet stuff and that got me interested :) I have to warn you, you will definitely spend a good half of the day reading her blog. And it will leave you all inspired and geared up to make and create nice things :)

Yup, there's a Meet me at Mike's Store :)

OK so far, that's about it. Oh yes, this past weekend I spent my Saturday in KLPac for Urbanscapes, an all-day art festival. There was music, food, fashion pluses and minuses, shopping, photography, movies and collaborations. It was a good day.

Inspiração

{photo from weheartit}

I'm so so lucky to have a real life person whom i have met before who inspires me. It beats being inspired by a celebrity or anyone else living overseas, from the internet, etc. I have to say that this person is the epitome of carefree. And I wish to be more like him one day :)
To be able to do exactly what I want with my life, for myself, I think it is the most fulfilling feeling in the world. And I think I will do it, when the time comes. I don't want to keep thinking about what would happen if I hadn't done this or that. Life is short. It's time to live it now, not make plans for the future. (although right now, I am planning for the future a little, aren't I...OK so plans for the near future is alright, but not 10 years from now.)
In order to fulfil this amazing dream (or soon-to-be reality) I would definitely need to start earning my own money. It will be the only way. More on that another time.

p.s: 3 guesses about what I'd like to do with my life, judging from the photos ;)

untitled

There're just so much of music out there today. It's like a big, big buffet of genres to choose from and enjoy. I'm just really overwhelmed by the number of creative people out there creating music in the form of rainbows and pretty flowers to my ears. So here's some music I almost forgot about. Thanks to my bud Adz I got to rediscover some of them again. And some I just didn't hear about till she wrote about them. Yup, she's like a human music store serving only good music. I feel so lucky, really.

1) Andrew Bird - Why? (heard about this guy and didn't do a thing about it. yes, i've learnt my lesson)

2) Oi Va Voi - A Csitari Hegyek Alatt (awesome band i found out about last year)

TO DO List (for whenever I find the time, that is)
  1. Compile all the songs Addy has introduced in her blog for my own collection. This seems easy but it's totally not. She has like 100 plus posts, each with songs. It will be a challenge.
  2. Go shopping for new clothes (very much due)
  3. Read
  4. Play around with nice-looking paper and glue and scissors.
yep, that's about it for now. I just needed to record it down somewhere in case i forgot.
Ta.
