Paperbags of Love

As usual, I'm late to the party. The paperbag party.

First up, I came across Tellkiddo, an online shop based in Sweden, selling large paperbags with cute-as-heck designs on it. I wish I could have at least 5 of those! What a bloody clever idea. They've just begun producing fabric bags now (be still, heart).

And then, I came across another paperbag. It shouldn't be so enticing, but it just is!
Le sac en papier. French. Ah. That explains it.

So.. I didn't know you could use these paper bags so many ways.

Ariele Alasko

It's my first time coming across a woman who builds for a living. A modern-day carpenter. How awesomely cool can you get, really?
Ariele Alasko went to art school in New York to study sculpture, then ended up building tables and headboards and everything else (in time, I'm sure). Beautiful, structured tables. I wish I could buy one of them.

Just another reason why I wish everyday I was living in New York. Small cozy apartments and access to amazing-as-hell stuff right where I (would) live (let's imagine for a second).

I think Ariele is just amazing. Her vision is astounding. It's crazy to know that all she uses is reclaimed wood. In other words, unwanted scraps of wood. But she takes them in and turns them into irresistible pieces of furniture. Now that is pure skill.

I can't sew to save my soul, I wouldn't bother trying my hand at building. So I'm just going to sit here and covet all the things she makes forever.

{In her element - by the way, her workspace is right there in her apartment. So hardcore.}

online magazines.

Holy crap. It's like your birthday when it's not.

{all images sourced from rue magazine}

Please check out RUE because it'll blow your mind. It does kinda suck because most stuff that's on there, I can't afford let alone think of buying because, well, I just can't afford them. But the magazine is done so nicely and so pretty and it's on your computer screen. It's just awesome. Saving so many trees with this amazing idea for an online magazine.

And here's another online magazine I found: Matchbook. It has crazy beautiful things in there that you will covet forever.

Song of the day: Lissie - Pursuit of Happiness (cover)  [ thank you nicole :) ]

time for change (again)

hey there internet-surfing people, I've changed my blog template thingie so hopefully it still appeals as it did before (self-flattery much eh)

Anyway, once again, I've stumbled upon some cool blogs and decided to share here because they were too interesting for me to keep all to myself. Really, I'm not being sweet or anything but it was really too much of nice stuff so I wanted to mention about them here.

First up, it's Goodnight Little Spoon. This cool girl, Bianca Jagoe makes mean postcards and envelopes. When I say mean, I mean super awesome-looking paper put together. And then she sends them to friends and people she meet through her blog. To make it just a little bit more better, she sends cool stuff in the envelopes! It is just too good. I wish to explore that side of me soon. I can't even think about doing any of that now. Only because I know I would spend days working on creating a pretty postcard, time of which I don't have right now. But definitely something I look forward to when I'm on holiday :)

just one of many of Bianca's works

Next, this blog, Meet Me At Mike's has inspired the granny in me to learn how to knit. Yes, you read right. I want to learn how to knit. Pip, the woman behind this inspiring blog, shares many tutorials on how to knit and crochet stuff and that got me interested :) I have to warn you, you will definitely spend a good half of the day reading her blog. And it will leave you all inspired and geared up to make and create nice things :)

Yup, there's a Meet me at Mike's Store :)

OK so far, that's about it. Oh yes, this past weekend I spent my Saturday in KLPac for Urbanscapes, an all-day art festival. There was music, food, fashion pluses and minuses, shopping, photography, movies and collaborations. It was a good day.

major absence

I feel like it's been forever since I last posted anything here. I've been dying to but I just couldn't bring myself to write. (yes, it is ironic.)
Anyway, Mother's Day was last week and all I could do was a mixtape CD for my mum (sadly I couldn't take a photo because I don't have a digital camera at the mo..don't tell her that tho..working on it!) and thank goodness she loves it :) I'm a little bummed because I didn't include everything that I wanted to tell her. But I plan to think of another way to do that. Soon. When I can. By the end of this year.
OK, after rummaging through my google reader full of posts from all over the world, I've come across a tiny thought for the day: The Perks of Living in Europe. Actually it's more of what I think about everyday of the year...preferably Paris :)

aaah. Life. Am I asking for too much here? Don't answer that.

been a long time

And here's why: I was busy finishing up my term paper for Music History. And then I fell sick. Yup. Was down with fever, and then because I didn't eat properly, I was attacked by gastric pain. It was such a bad experience I never want to get it, ever again. I don't even want to think or imagine or describe it. ugh.
BUT - Thanks to my loving boyfriend, Jo, I'm alive and well :) what would I do without you?

anyways on to some good stuff.

Exams are over (although I did miss my one and only History paper due to the crappy sickness, which I will have to sit for only next year, which in turn becomes a pain because I hate to sit for papers and now I have to wait so long and it doesn't help to think about how everyone else in my class have already sat for it)

Anyways - I went out today, with cousin Meens, because I felt like spending money and it's been too long since I did..I think the last time was in April? but I spent it on something I desperately needed: a wallet. And also something else I didn't need as much: a dress :)

Yep, it's from Roxy :)

check out the ribbon detail, it's awesome :)

yeah, that's about all I spent on..besides a java chip frapp and tempura in Sushi Zanmai heheh..
Now, it's back to being poor :(
Scrounging time is here again, oh too early..

first attempt

i just stumbled upon another beautiful site :)
it's called Daydream Lily and it's full of art and, my favorite: interior decorating ideas =)
and this video is 'borrowed' from the website as well >.<
here's another sneak peek to the site of all things beautiful and happy

it's just too pretty, is it not?
[CIMG1780.JPG]
it's a hot air balloon necklace!

i really wish i have nothing else to do but blog then i would have the time do so much of crazy, nice, awesome stuff. But then, I would run out of money so maybe I should be at least working part-time or something.
For now, it's off to starting my dreaded assignment which is due very soon (yes i'm only just about to start..)
