Moving forward

I'm so terribly excited, I don't know what to do and where to start. 

The Mr and I have decided to go ahead with our idea to produce stickers/vinyls/decals for decoration purposes and just plain fun. We haven't yet gotten a good enough portfolio of designs to show but I have so many ideas in my head (and sketchbook) already. 

It's just so exciting and then nerve-wracking. 

Exciting because I can already imagine the designs I want to put out and how we're going to package our products. Nerve-wracking because (again) I'm thinking about how I'm going to spend my time wisely ahead of caring for our cub and keeping house (fairly) well.

On another note, I'm currently working on a mini mail project and a major mail project. The goal is to get the mini one sent out by the end of the week and the major one by the end of the month, or first week of March. Hopefully no later than that. 

The cub is sleeping more in the mornings so I am treating my mornings as a sacred time for myself, to do whatever I want. Which means I'll be having my breakfast and catching up on my personal projects or work while doing laundry. Basically just taking advantage of my free time. 

Sidenote: I have new-found respect for free time. I know I shouldn't regret anything but I do regret not using my free time more wisely before our little cub arrived.

Type doodles

Just a few doodle writings I did, trying something new (for me). I kinda like it, quite fun. The middle one is taken from Perks of Being a Wallflower. Nice movie, surprisingly. Gave me a 90's vibe.

Anyway, hoping to do more of this soon. Maybe I should do this on postcards too. Kudos to doing random stuff for fun.

Easter was good much-needed family time. And it was so fun getting my boy a present for his birthday and seeing his reaction while opening it. It was such luck that the tshirt I got him had the number 10 on it. His favorite. Awesome. (cos I kinda forgot about that)
And heavens, this NPR thing is good. I've definitely visited it before but I've never listened to albums on it. Right now I'm listening to Fleet Foxes. God knows what I'm going to be listening to next. The list is (almost) endless.
In other news: nothing much has happened, since I'm on a short break 'locking' myself up in my house, getting spoiled with lots of food and TV.

I just came across this talented girl from Portugal, Wasted Rita. Hell, anyone who can draw and create something with a pen or pencil is talented. I feel like she doesn't care to please anyone but herself and that is not such an easy thing to do. I hope I can do that soon. She's an illustrator and here are some of her works that I like.

New York. Will I ever be able to get over you? If (when, maybe?) I have a ton of money and really, the money just wouldn't stop coming in, I would travel round the world. Go to un-touristy places and discover everything on my own sans a tour guide. And of course shop for clothes and home stuff. I am so stuck.

A tiny bit of advice (mostly for myself): Never ever ever take for granted the places you visit when you travel. Ever. Take a lot of photos and videos until you piss some people off. That would be a sign that you've taken just enough for the memories.

the ultimate goal: I will conquer New York if it's the last thing I do.

Listening to: sexy music (aptly described by the lovely Nicole Lim) with the likes of Musiq Soulchild, Erykah Badu, Corrine Bailey Rae and the 'Woman on Top' Soundtrack (hello, Spanish dreams). Just Lovely.

Sorry for the as-always silent treatment for too long but it is the holidays and I guess I need a little vacation away from the computer from time to time as well, right? Not that I'm a hell of a writer writing day and night anyways, eh.. Anyways, besides the chaos that is my brother's return from Ukraine for good and his graduation and wedding...I've still managed to find some interesting stuff online (yes, I don't feel like blogging but I do still read other people's blogs haha..)

OK so thanks to Sam Sebastian, I checked out this hilarious article: If Historical Events had Facebook Statuses. Gawd was it a good laugh. And it doesn't end there. I was curious about what this whole website was about (it's called Cool Material) and I stumbled upon yet another interesting article on Diego Gravinese, an artist. Holy crapzer he is just too damn good for this world.

In other elements, I've discovered (and rediscovered) instrumental music. mostly guitarists. electric guitarists. Paul Gilbert, Jimi H, BB King..awesome. I have to say this is all because my bro is crazy about them and gave me a listen and then made me crazy about them.

Although I've been dying for the holidays, I've found myself dying to get back to uni and KL...

So I wish I wrote this song. It's a good feeling getting into a song and really 'hearing' the words. There's something poetic about lyrics of songs. Don't get me wrong, not all songs out there are poetic, oh no. Only a select few. And I have yet to discover some of them still. Another songwriter/writer/poet I'd like to highlight is none other than the amazing Brandon Boyd. Oh, I'll be getting his book White Fluffy Clouds soon! I don't think I need to go on further.

time for change (again)

hey there internet-surfing people, I've changed my blog template thingie so hopefully it still appeals as it did before (self-flattery much eh)

Anyway, once again, I've stumbled upon some cool blogs and decided to share here because they were too interesting for me to keep all to myself. Really, I'm not being sweet or anything but it was really too much of nice stuff so I wanted to mention about them here.

First up, it's Goodnight Little Spoon. This cool girl, Bianca Jagoe makes mean postcards and envelopes. When I say mean, I mean super awesome-looking paper put together. And then she sends them to friends and people she meet through her blog. To make it just a little bit more better, she sends cool stuff in the envelopes! It is just too good. I wish to explore that side of me soon. I can't even think about doing any of that now. Only because I know I would spend days working on creating a pretty postcard, time of which I don't have right now. But definitely something I look forward to when I'm on holiday :)

Next, this blog, Meet Me At Mike's has inspired the granny in me to learn how to knit. Yes, you read right. I want to learn how to knit. Pip, the woman behind this inspiring blog, shares many tutorials on how to knit and crochet stuff and that got me interested :) I have to warn you, you will definitely spend a good half of the day reading her blog. And it will leave you all inspired and geared up to make and create nice things :)

OK so far, that's about it. Oh yes, this past weekend I spent my Saturday in KLPac for Urbanscapes, an all-day art festival. There was music, food, fashion pluses and minuses, shopping, photography, movies and collaborations. It was a good day.
